New Hope Substation Outage Update:
7:47 pm - At this time, members served by the New Hope Substation should have power back on. We would like to thank everyone for their patience. We again would like to thank the Perquimans County Sheriff's Department for directing traffic. We would like to thank Whitehurst Sand Co. for loaning us logging matts for our equipment and Lee Electrical Construction for assisting our crews. We are also thankful for the community members who provided food and drink for our linemen. Please continue to keep those who have suffered losses from this storm in your thoughts and prayers.
2:45 p.m. We discovered a third broken pole and have brought in a contract crew to assist our crews with setting the poles. We have discovered tin wrapped in the lines that run through a flooded swamp, which is difficult to access. The tin must be removed before the lines can be energized, as well. Thank you to the Perquimans County Sheriff's Department for directing traffic around our linemen and trucks!
7 a.m. Please be advised that the power line that feeds the New Hope Substation in Perquimans County was damaged from an apparent tornado this morning. Two poles were broken, knocking out power to the substation, which feeds a large section of southern Perquimans County. Our line crews have begun restoration work, which could take several hours.
